Discovery Spotlight Alum Now Starring in Amazon Prime Series

Madison Iseman is having a very busy fall.

Madison started her career on the stage with Discovery Spotlight in Charleston, South Carolina. She attended our coaching and practice sessions, then participated in a talent expo in 2009 in the modeling, acting, and singing showcases.

Now, she currently stars in Amazon’s soft reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer, a new series loosely based on the iconic ‘90s teen horror franchise. The series, which premiered Oct. 15, follows the same basic premise as the film adaptation: In a town full of secrets, a group of teenagers is stalked by a mysterious killer a year after a fatal accident on their graduation night.

A Fresh Take

In a twist on both the original 1973 novel by Lois Duncan and the hit 1997 film version, the series revolves around twin sisters Allison and Lennon, both played by Madison. The twins share a complex relationship, spurred by their mother’s suicide when they were young. While Lennon appears to have quickly moved on (or did she?), Allison remains depressed and is deeply affected by their mother’s death. Throughout the series, Madison portrays the twins’ distinct, nearly complete-opposite personalities, and is already being compared by entertainment critics to Jennifer Love Hewitt’s performance in the original movie.

From Horror to Hollywood

Madison is certainly no stranger to the horror genre. Using her mom’s camcorder, Madison and her childhood friends ran around their Myrtle Beach, S.C., neighborhood shooting homemade slasher flicks. She also burned the scariest parts of popular horror movies into other movies to try and scare her friends during sleepovers.

After moving to California halfway through her sophomore year of high school, the horror buff quickly picked up acting roles in her favorite genre, including appearing as a child in Tales of Halloween and the family-oriented Ghost Squad before co-starring in such thrillers as Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween and Annabelle Comes Home.

Stretching Her Acting Muscles

Now living in Los Angeles with more than 40 movie and TV credits under her belt, Madison continues to take on more diverse, challenging acting roles.
Not wanting to be typecast as a self-absorbed, phone-obsessed teenager early in her career, especially after her role as Bethany in the Jumanji movies, Madison has recently tackled a wide range of roles across multiple genres – from comedies like Still the King and Feast of the Seven Fishes to serious, dramatic roles in Fear of Rain and Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac.
