How to Be Part of Netflix Casting

Netflix has solidly become synonymous with entertainment. The streaming giant transformed how people consume television and film, and the executives of Blockbuster are still kicking themselves for missing their chance to buy out the company back in 2000. With there being no sign of people’s demand for streaming entertainment decreasing, making a good impression in a Netflix casting call could be the key to you making it big as an actor.

Netflix Originals

In 2013, Netflix made another seismic shift in entertainment by releasing their first original series, House of Cards, rather than focusing only on curated content. The show’s release and critical acclaim signaled major changes coming for Hollywood.

The release of Orange Is the New Black later that year would only solidify this. Now, viewers would need to create a Netflix account to watch the shows everyone couldn’t stop talking about. And moving forward, Netflix would continue to lead the charge.

That same year, Netflix decided to join the fun the MCU was having and picked up five new shows based on iconic Marvel characters, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher.  2014 saw the release of the critically acclaimed animated series Bojack Horseman, which would set the tone for many Netflix original series to follow with the many ways it stood out from typical network shows.

The true crime docuseries Making a Murderer premiered in 2015 and quickly became one of the most talked-about shows at the time. Netflix was proving to be a major force in pop culture, largely due to its original content. And in 2017, the streaming platform announced that half of its content library would be Netflix originals by 2019.

Fast forward to today, and hearing about a new Netflix series is hardly a surprise. Netflix has made huge investments into both quantity and quality, with legendary names like the Coen Brothers and Martin Scorcese making Netflix original films.

Future Netflix Series

Between new shows, new seasons of existing series, and films, there are dozens of new Netflix originals slated for release throughout the year. And this trend can only be expected to accelerate in the future.

Some of the most hotly anticipated releases are Netflix original shows, such as season 4 of Stranger Things, which is currently in production in Atlanta. And while a fifth season hasn’t been confirmed, it’s certainly not out of the question.

Another exciting opportunity to look out for if you’re interested in Netflix casting is the fourth and final season of the hit show Ozark. The series is currently casting extras and speaking roles with production slated to take place in the Atlanta area.

If you’ve ever dreamed of starring in a film with names like Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne, your chance could be coming with the upcoming Netflix original film The Good Nurse, which is now casting for background and speaking roles for production in Stamford, CT.
