RULES & REGULATIONS
Scoring
During the showcase, our scouts will be scoring participants on a scale of 1 to 10 in two areas – Marketability and Skill.
A contestant can be a Finalist in only one category. Should a participant earn the top score in multiple categories, they will be called as a Finalist in the category in which they received their highest marks.
The Finalist in each category with the highest marks will be recognized as an Elite Winner.
Three (3) Discovery Spotlight Elite Winners will receive a 24k gold plated Elie statuette trophy, gifts, a $100 cash prize, a full scholarship to a future DS Event, and will be invited to become a Discovery Spotlight Brand Ambassador.
Music
Singers will be given up to 2 minutes to perform. Singers tracks should be instrumental (karaoke), without lead vocals. Costumes may be worn to enhance the performance, and hand-held props are allowed. Singers who perform with a pre-approved instrument or prop must have their instrument with them at event check in. Music must not be longer than 2 minutes.
Dancers may wear costumes, simple leotards or dress in a more modern style. Music must not be longer than 2 minutes and 30 seconds before the track fades out.
If tracks are longer than the allotted time, our audio technician will fade music when allowed time expires.
Singers and dancers participating in our Performance Competitions must submit all music tracks in Mp3 format to production@discoveryspotlight.com no later than two weeks prior to the date of the expo.
Props
Hand-held props may be used by SINGERS, DANCERS and MONOLOGUE ACTORS ONLY. Actors may use props in their monologues. Props are not allowed during TV Commercials. Large set pieces are strictly prohibited.
Elite Finalists
Discovery Spotlight Finalists are announced and invited to stage to receive a Discovery Spotlight Elite Finalist Medal and $1,000 Scholarship, to be used toward a future event. Elite Winners will receive a Discovery Spotlight trophy, scholarship, a cash prize and $1,000 Scholarship to be used toward a future event.
Performance Elite Winner:
A Discovery Spotlight Elite Award is presented to the finalist with the highest score from either our Dancing or Singing Performance Competition.*
Modeling Elite Winner:
A Discovery Spotlight Elite Award is presented to the finalist with the highest score in the Fashion Runway, Swimsuit Runway or Jeans Runway Competitions.*
Acting Elite Winner:
A Discovery Spotlight Elite Award is presented to the finalist with the highest score in our Commercial Acting or Monologue Acting Competitions.*
*In case of a tie, the contestant with the highest score per the division's head judge will determine the winner.
Other Awards, Gift Certificates, and Scholarships
Additional awards, gifts and prizes may be awarded by various sponsors and attending agents and scouts.
