Actors looking for TV shows in North Carolina to audition for are in luck. Right now, the Netflix series Outer Banks is looking for actors to join the cast for season three. With season two already receiving positive reviews shortly after its release, the showrunners are looking to charge forward with a third season. Here’s everything you need to know about getting cast in the third season of this hit Netflix mystery series.
What Is Outer Banks?
A unique combination of teen drama, mystery, and adventure, Outer Banks follows the lives of a group of teens who live in a coastal town in the Outer Banks in North Carolina. In this region, the divide between wealthy part-time residents and working-class locals is clear. This is evident in the fact that the locals refer to the wealthy part-timers as “Kooks” while the rich, seasonal visitors refer to the locals as “Pogues.” This conflict between the two groups is akin to gang rivalries, causing frequent hostile encounters.
One day, a group of Pogues decides to try to discover what happened to the missing father of their ringleader, John B. In the process, they stumble upon a hidden treasure linked to John B’s father. From here, the plot turns into a wild chase through the Outer Banks, with John B’s group of Pogues on the run from the authorities and a group of Kooks.
Series Reception and Season 3
Premiering on Netflix on April 15, 2020, Outer Banks was received with primarily positive reviews. The series currently holds a 77% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the recently released second season holding an 83% approval rating from critics.
With the second season ending on a surprising note, audiences are on the edge of their seats to see what happens in the third season, which is pending approval from Netflix. Still, the success of the show and optimism from the cast and production team implies a new season is more than likely to happen.
Casting for Outer Banks Season 3
Casting calls in Charleston, South Carolina and North Carolina are expected to be put out soon for the upcoming season of Outer Banks. Expect to see casting calls for background roles, new characters, stand-ins, and more roles.
Casting directors have already hinted they’re tapping acting agencies for characters with speaking roles for subsequent seasons, so if you’re interested in getting into acting in South Carolina or North Carolina, then your goal should be to find representation with an agent.
Of course, aspiring actors will gain valuable experience working on the set as an extra as well. Since season three hasn’t even been officially greenlit, the production dates of the next season of Outer Banks are still to be determined.
